The Bauchi state government has intended to sponsor candidates that pass the aptitude test for SSCE. However, given the pressure that COVID-19 put on the school calendar it will be difficult for the ministry to conduct the test before 4 February 2021, the final date for uploading of students’ continuous assessment record on the WAEC portal. This has led the ministry with no option this year but to register the students it is sponsoring for NECO, the registration of which will come much later in the year, not WAEC.
However, parents are free to register their children for WAEC (WASSCE) exams at their own expense. The exams directorate in the ministry has sent forms to principals to fill in the continuous assessment record of interested students and return them to the ministry for upload. This is at the expense of the student not government.
