5 Very useful apps for students

Discover some of the most useful apps for university, college, and polytechnic students and any student in higher institutions.

Some apps can help a student stay organized, do more and even save money or cut down expenses. Unfortunately, some students don't make use of such apps! In this post, I want to share with you some of the most useful apps for college students and those in varsity or other higher institutions.

1. Cloud Storage - Google Drive

Google Drive lets you save different kinds of documents that you can access/retrieve at any time and from anywhere! Why is Google Drive important for students? Oftentimes students are required to submit/upload scanned documents online, for example during clearance, course registration, scholarship application, etc. What some students do is they spend money at business centers to scan and upload copies of their documents whenever each time a soft copy of their document is required. This is a waste of money and time. But with Google Drive, what you can do is scan the document (you can use a phone app to scan the documents), upload it to Google Drive. Now whenever such a document is required, simply grab a copy you have saved in Google Drive and forward it. 2. Email App

Email address is one of the most important personal information you can have today, including if you are a student. From an application for an entrance exam to registration on a school portal, scholarship, internship, to access different online resources for students, etc, a student needs an email. These days most official information and passed down to students via email, instead of SMS or phone call. To stay organized and access your email easily at any time, you need an email app. Recommended Email app Gmail App The Gmail app is the best I have used. You can even link up multiple emails in one Gmail app, including Yahoo mail and others that are not Gmail.

3. Note-taking app

Of course, most lecturers will not allow students to use their phones during classes, but there are many occasions outside the classroom where you might want to jot things down. Google Docs even has many templates that can serve for different purposes. For example, if you want to write a resume or CV, you can pick or get ideas from templates already in the app. 2. Evernote [caption id="attachment_6287" align="aligncenter" width="480"] Evernote[/caption] Another app you can use to capture a note is Evernote. Evernote is awesome but personally, I use Google apps because of the ease of accessing them with one Google account.

4. Dictionary App

Every student knows what a dictionary is used for, hence this does not need much explanation. Recommended Dictionary Apps:

5. Messaging App

The importance of messaging apps to a student in today's world cannot be overemphasized. Students get the most information and latest updates from their school, departments on messaging apps like WhatsApp. Group discussions are also often held on messaging apps due to how it facilitates the speedy exchange of information, unlike an online community like Facebook Group. Recommended Messaging App 1. WhatsApp WhatsApp is by far the best messaging app out there currently. It has Good security features and it is free.
