Rivers state declares FREE primary and secondary schools

 /Uncategorized

Students who are in their primary or secondary level of education in Rivers state will no longer pay school fees and other levies as the government of Rivers state declared free education for primary and secondary school students in the state.

The state governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, announced the total abolition of all forms of fees and levies in public primary and secondary schools in a bid to increase access to quality education across the state.

In line with this free education policy, all the state-owned primary and secondary schools have been directed to stop collecting fees and levies from students and pupils with immediate effect.

How will the public schools be funded?

Governor Wike said that, the government of Rivers state will from henceforth be sending direct allocations to all primary and secondary schools management for their operations.

This is indeed something commendable. Kudos to the Rivers state government!
