The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is a regional examination body responsible for conducting and administering examinations for secondary school students in West Africa.

Eligibility Criteria For The WAEC Exam

Before you register for the WAEC exam, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • You must be a secondary school student in one of the five WAEC member countries.
  • You must have completed or be in your final year of secondary school education.
  • You must have obtained the necessary credits in your core subjects, as specified by your country's education board.

Requirements For WAEC Registration 2023

Any candidate must meet all the following requirements if you want to register for WAEC 2023 exam.

  • You must have completed or be in your final year of secondary school.
  • You must have a National Identification Number (NIN): Latest update from WAEC said no candidate could register for 2023 WAEC without NIN. Go to any NIMC Registration centre near you to get yours now if you haven't.
  • You must have valid names, gender, date of birth, addresses, states of origin, and nationalities. 
  • You must have a valid Photograph, Fingerprint, Phone Number, and Email Address.
  • You must have the 9 lists of subjects you want to write in your WAEC exam.
  • You must also have the WAEC exam fee during your registration.
NOTE: School candidates should go to the school they want to write the exam for registration. And also, private or external candidates should go to their preferred centres for registration.

How Much Is WAEC 2023 Registration Fee?

Before you can be qualified as a candidate to sit for the WAEC 2023 exam you are expected to pay a registration fee of Eighteen Thousand Naira (N18,000) at any WAEC Registration centre near you or your chosen school.

NB: Registration fee varies in different schools (especially private schools) if you are a school candidate.

WAEC Exam Registration Procedures

There are two methods of registration for the WAEC exam, online and offline methods.

Online Registration

To register online for the WAEC exam, candidates should follow these steps:

  1. Visit the WAEC registration portal (www.waeconline.org.ng).
  2. Click on the "Registration" link.
  3. Fill in the required information, such as your name, date of birth, and other personal details.
  4. Upload your passport photograph and signature.
  5. Select your preferred examination centre.
  6. Submit the form and print out the confirmation page.

Offline Registration

To register offline for the WAEC exam, candidates should follow these steps:

  1. Visit any WAEC office or designated banks.
  2. Obtain the WAEC registration form.
  3. Fill in the required information, such as your name, date of birth, and other personal details.
  4. Attach your passport photograph and signature.
  5. Submit the form and collect your examination timetable.

WAEC 2023 Registration Starting Date

The 2023 WAEC SSCE exam registration starts on the 5th of February, 2023 and ends on the 26th of March, 2023 for both online and offline registration.

WAEC 2023 Registration Closing Date (Deadline)

The West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that there won't be an extension of the registration for the 2023 WAEC candidates. 

The deadline for the 2023 WAEC exam will be on the 26th of April, 2022. Candidates should register for the exam before the deadline.

The WAEC exam does not have an age limit. The requirement is that you must have completed or be in your final year in secondary school.

Yes, you can use only WAEC to gain admission into any university, polytechnic, or college of education in Nigeria.

So does it mean that apart from the end date of Wassce 2022 which maybe on 30th of April, 2022 there won't be any panalty to those candidate who where not having money for the entry of that period. Becuase i think there must be an opportunity or chance for such candidate or student coming from a poor home like me.
