Applications of Simple Machines in Everyday Life - JSS2 Basic technology Lesson Note
Simple machines are found everywhere in daily life and are fundamental in many tools and devices we use:
- Levers: Scissors (first-class lever), nutcrackers (second-class lever), and brooms (third-class lever) all use the principle of levers to make tasks easier.
- Pulleys: Elevators use pulleys to lift the car up and down. Flagpoles use a pulley system to raise and lower flags.
- Gears: Bicycles use gears to adjust the effort needed to pedal on different terrains. Clocks use gears to keep accurate time by regulating the movement of the hands.
