Bisecting Angles - JSS2 Mathematics Lesson Note
Using a Compass and a Ruler
Steps:
Draw the Angle:
Draw an angle โ ๐ด๐ต๐ถ with vertex ๐ต.
Arc Intersection:
Place the compass at the vertex ๐ต and draw an arc that intersects both arms of the angle.
Label the intersection points as ๐ท and ๐ธ.
Intersecting Arcs:
Without changing the compass width, place the compass at ๐ท and draw an arc inside the angle.
Repeat the process by placing the compass at ๐ธ and draw another arc that intersects the first arc. Label the intersection point as ๐น.
Draw the Bisector:
Draw a lie from the vertex ๐ต through the intersection point ๐น. This line bisects the angle โ ๐ด๐ต๐ถ into two equal parts.
Example: Bisect an angle โ ๐ด๐ต๐ถ.
Steps:
Draw โ ๐ด๐ต๐ถ.
Place the compass at ๐ต and draw an arc intersecting ๐ด๐ต and ๐ต๐ถ at ๐ท and ๐ธ.
With the same compass width, draw arcs from ๐ท and ๐ธ that intersect at ๐น.
Draw line ๐ต๐น to bisect โ ๐ด๐ต๐ถ.
