Chemical Methods - SS2 Agriculture Lesson Note
Insecticides and Fungicides: These are chemicals designed to kill or control insect pests and fungal diseases. They are usually a last resort due to environmental and health concerns.
Herbicides: Used to control weeds that compete with crops for resources. Selective herbicides target specific types of weeds.
Pesticide Rotation: Alternating between different classes of pesticides to prevent pests from developing resistance.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM): A holistic approach that combines cultural, biological, and chemical methods to minimize pest damage while reducing chemical usage.
Proper Application: Ensuring that pesticides are applied at the right time, in the right amount, and using appropriate equipment to maximize effectiveness and minimize environmental impact.
