Convert fractions to decimal, decimals to fractions - JSS1 Mathematics Lesson Note
Convert fractions to decimals: To convert a fraction to a decimal, divide the numerator (top number) by the denominator (bottom number). For example:
¾ = 3÷4 = 0.75
4/3 =3÷4=0.75
2/5= 2÷5 = 0.4
5/2 =2÷5=0.4
Convert decimals to fractions: To convert a decimal to a fraction, determine the place value of the decimal and use it as the numerator. The denominator will depend on the number of decimal places. For example:
0.6= 6/10 = 3/5
0.6= 10/6 = 5/3 (simplified form)
0.125= 125/1000 = 1/8
0.125= 1000/125= 8/1 (simplified form)
