Dryers - SS2 Agriculture Lesson Note
Farm dryers are essential for removing moisture from crops like grains, corn, and rice. They help prevent spoilage and maintain the quality of the harvest. There are two main types:
Batch Dryers: These dry a set quantity of crop at a time. Farmers load the crop, dry it, and then unload it once it reaches the desired moisture level.
Continuous Flow Dryers: These are designed for larger-scale operations. They continuously move the crop through a drying process, ensuring a consistent level of moisture removal.
Proper drying is vital because excess moisture can lead to mold, reduced quality, and even the loss of an entire crop.
