Fertilization - JSS1 Basic science Lesson Note

Fertilization happens when a sperm cell penetrates and combines with an egg cell. It usually occurs in the fallopian tube. After fertilization, the newly formed embryo travels down to the uterus and implants into the uterine lining, where it begins to grow and develop into a fetus. This marks the beginning of pregnancy.
