Food Crops - SS2 Geography Lesson Note
Food crops are plants cultivated for the primary purpose of consumption by people or animals. In Nigeria, various food crops are grown in different regions due to the country's diverse agro-ecological zones. For example:
Cassava, a starchy root crop, is grown extensively in the southern regions of Nigeria, such as the Niger Delta and South-East, where the climate and soil conditions are suitable.
Yam, another staple food, is widely cultivated in the middle belt and southwestern regions, including states like Benue and Oyo.
