Identificatiom of names - JSS2 Christian Religious Studies Lesson Note

1. Everyone is identified with their name:

Adam—earth

Moses—drawn out

Noah—peace

Peter—rock

2. When your name is mentioned, people immediately think of something.

3. We make our name good or bad. It is our decision.

4. A bad name can be changed to good:

Saul to Paul (Acts 9)

Woman at the well to soul winner of a city (John 4)

Maniac to Christian (Mark 5)

Cursing Peter to preaching Peter (Matthew 26; Acts 2)

5. A good name can be lost in one action:

Saul (1 Samuel 15)

Elijah running from Jezebel (1 Kings 19)

Achan (Joshua 7)

6. There are things you can do to get and keep a good name:

i. Associate with those who have a good name (2 Corinthians 6:14–17).

ii. Live a sanctified life

iii. Be faithful to God’s house.

iv. Work hard and be reliable.

v. Keep your word.

vi. Think of others.
