Jesus predicts Peter's denial (Matt.26:31-35; Luk 22:31-34; John 13:36-38) - JSS2 Christian Religious Studies Lesson Note

After supper was over, Jesus wanted to prepare them [the disciples] for what was going to happen that very night, but they were slow to understand what he said. Jesus said to them, “All of you will run away and leave me, for the scripture says, “I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.” After I am raised, I will go before you into Galilee.

Peter answered, “I will never leave you, even though all the rest do!”

Jesus said to Peter, “I tell you that before the cock crows twice

Tonight, you will say three times that you do not know me.”

Peter answered, even more strongly, “I will never say that to you or deny you, even if I have to die with you!” and all the other disciples said the same thing.

After the discussion, Jesus went to Gethsemane to pray. He went with Peter, James, and John. It was after the prayer that he was arrested and the disciples escaped for their lives, but Peter followed at a distance. Jesus was taken to the High Priest, house, where all the chief priests, the elders, and the teachers of the Law were gathering. Peter also followed them to the courtyard of the High Priest’s house; there he sat down with the guards, keeping himself warm by the fire. The chief priests and the whole council tried to find some evidence against Jesus to put him to death, but they could not find any.
