Meaning of Division of Labour - SS1 Economics Lesson Note

The division of labour refers to the separation of work tasks or functions into smaller and more specialized parts, each of which is performed by a different worker or group of workers. 

Division of labor is a process where a large task or project is broken down into smaller, more specialized tasks, and assigned to different individuals or groups. This process is often used in manufacturing, where it allows for increased efficiency and productivity. This process is intended to increase productivity, efficiency, and quality by allowing workers to focus on tasks that match their skills and experience.  

In a division of labor system, each person or group focuses on a specific task, allowing them to become experts in that area. This can lead to increased efficiency, as individuals can complete their tasks more quickly and with higher quality. Additionally, division of labor can lead to lower costs, as the specialization allows for greater economies of scale and reduces the need for expensive training and equipment.
