Monarchy - SS1 Government Lesson Note
A monarchy is a form of government in which a single person, usually referred to as a monarch or king/queen, serves as the head of state. The monarch usually inherits the position from a family member or predecessor, and their power is usually absolute or limited by a constitution.
The monarch is typically the ceremonial head of state and performs duties such as representing the country on official visits, signing bills into law, and appointing government officials. In some cases, the monarch may also have political power and be involved in the decision-making process of the government.
Monarchies can be classified as absolute or constitutional. In an absolute monarchy, the monarch has complete control over the government and its citizens, while in a constitutional monarchy, the monarch's powers are limited by a constitution and the government is run by elected officials.
