Newton's Third Law of Motion (Action and Reaction) - JSS2 Basic technology Lesson Note

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

This law means that forces always come in pairs. When one object exerts a force on another, the second object exerts an equal and opposite force back on the first.

Practical Examples:

  • When you jump off a boat, you push the boat backward as you move forward.
  • A rocket launches by expelling gas downward, which pushes the rocket upward.
