Pie charts - JSS2 Mathematics Lesson Note

Definition: Pie charts are circular graphs divided into slices to illustrate numerical proportions. Each slice represents a category's share of a whole, typically expressed as percentages.

Example:

Imagine a survey of favorite ice cream flavors among 100 people:

Chocolate: 40%

Vanilla: 30%

Strawberry: 20%

Others: 10%

To represent this data in a pie chart:

Draw a circle (whole) representing 100%.

Divide it into sectors proportional to each flavor's percentage
