Pronoun - JSS1 English Language Lesson Note
Pronouns are words that are used in place of nouns to avoid repetition and make sentences less repetative. They help to refer to people, places , things or ideas without having to repeat the nouns themselves.
Types of Pronouns:
- Personal Pronouns: personal pronouns refer to specific people or things. They include: subject pronouns : I , you, he , she it , we, they object pronouns: me , you , him , her , it , us , them.
- Possessive Pronouns: Possessive Pronouns show ownership or possession. They include: Mine, yours , his , hers , it's , ours, theirs
- Demonstrative Pronouns: Demonstrative pronouns point to specific things or people they include: This , that , these , those
- Reflective Pronouns : Reflective pronouns are used when the subject and object of a sentence are the same they include : myself , yourself , himself, herself , itself , ourselves , yourselves, themselves.
- Indefinite Pronouns: indefinite pronoun refer to non-specific people or things. They include : someone, anyone , everyone , nobody, some, any, all , none
