Question on: SS1 Literature - Non-African Drama-Look back in Anger by John Osborne
Analyze the theme of class conflict in Look Back in Anger.
The theme of class conflict is central to Look Back in Anger. Jimmy Porter is a working-class man who is angry and frustrated with the upper class establishment. He believes that the upper class is responsible for the many problems in the world. Jimmy's anger is often directed at his wife Alison, who comes from an upper-class background.
The theme of class conflict is also explored through the relationship between Jimmy and Cliff Lewis. Cliff is a middle-class man who is Jimmy's best friend. Jimmy often criticizes Cliff for his middle-class values. However, Cliff remains loyal to Jimmy, even when Jimmy is at his worst.
