Briefly narrate the account of the birth of Jesus.

The Birth of Jesus

Announcement to Mary: The angel Gabriel visited Mary, a young woman living in Nazareth, and told her that she would conceive a child by the Holy Spirit. The angel told her that the child would be the Son of God and that she should name him Jesus (Luke 1:26-38).

Journey to Bethlehem: Mary was engaged to Joseph, a carpenter. When the Roman Emperor Augustus decreed that a census be taken, Joseph and the now-pregnant Mary traveled to Bethlehem, Joseph's ancestral home, to register for the census (Luke 2:1-5).

No Room at the Inn: Upon arriving in Bethlehem, they found that there was no room available at the inn. As a result, Mary and Joseph had to stay in a stable, where animals were kept (Luke 2:6-7).

Jesus' Birth: While in the stable, Mary gave birth to Jesus. She wrapped him in cloths and laid him in a manger, a feeding trough for animals (Luke 2:7)

Shepherds and Angels: Nearby, shepherds were in the fields watching over their flocks. An angel appeared to them, announcing the birth of Jesus and saying that he was the Savior, Christ the Lord. A host of angels then appeared, praising God (Luke 2:8-14).

Visit of the Shepherds: The shepherds went to Bethlehem and found Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus lying in the manger. They spread the word about what the angel had told them, and all who heard it were amazed. Mary treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart (Luke 2:15-20).
