Solve the following equation 6x 2 - 7x - 5 0 - WAEC Mathematics 1989 Question

Solve the following equation: 6x\(^2\) - 7x - 5 = 0

A
x = 1/2 or x = -21/2
B
x = 1/3 or x = 21/2
C
x = 1 2/3 or x = -1/2
D
x = 12/3 or x = 1/2
correct option: c

6x\(^2\) - 7x - 5 = 0

6x\(^2\) - 10x + 3x - 5 = 0

2x(3x - 5) + 1(3x - 5) = 0

(2x + 1)(3x - 5) = 0

x = \(\frac{5}{3}\) or x = \(-\frac{1}{2}\)
