State the contrast between the friend at midnig... - JSS1 Christian Religious Studies The story of friends at midnight (Luke 11: 5-13) Question
State the contrast between the friend at midnight and Jesus as our friend.
1. Relationship and Compassion:
Friend at Midnight: The parable illustrates that human friends might help us out of duty, and their willingness can be conditional.
Jesus: Jesus' friendship is unconditional and filled with compassion. He cares deeply for us and our well-being (John 10:14-15, 1 Peter 5:7).
2. Availability:
Friend at Midnight: The friend at midnight is not readily available and is reluctant to help initially due to the inconvenience of the hour.
Jesus: Jesus is always available and willing to help us at any time, day or night. He never sees our requests as an inconvenience (Matthew 28:20, Hebrews 13:5).
3. Willingness to Help:
Friend at Midnight: The friend at midnight helps out of obligation and because of the man’s persistence, not necessarily out of a willing heart.
Jesus: Jesus helps us out of love and compassion. He willingly meets our needs without us having to persistently beg (Matthew 7:7-11, John 15:13).
