What are semiconductors - SS3 Physics Modern Physics II Question

What are semiconductors?

Semiconductors are electrical components that are able to conduct electricity yet are also able to insulate. Thus, they are a mix between conductors (such as metals) and insulators (such as rubber). They are an intermediate between a good conductor and a good insulator.
