What is the difference between a short story and a poem?
Your answer should be brief and precise.
A short story is a prose narrative that is typically brief, with a beginning, middle, and end. A poem is a piece of writing that uses rhythm, rhyme, and imagery to create a certain effect.
Here is a short story that I wrote:
The old man sat on the bench, watching the children play. He smiled as he remembered a time when he was young and carefree, just like them. He had been through a lot in his life, but he had always found a way to keep going. He was a survivor.
The children were laughing and running around, oblivious to the old man's thoughts. They were living in the moment, and that was all that mattered. The old man envied them their innocence.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He could smell the flowers in the park and hear the birds singing in the trees. It was a beautiful day, and he was grateful to be alive.
He opened his eyes and looked at the children again. They were still laughing and running around, but the old man saw something else in their eyes now. He saw hope.
The old man smiled. He knew that the children would face challenges in their lives, but he also knew that they would overcome them. They had hope, and that was all they needed.
