The Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) is a short but intensive program designed to train recruits to become Airmen and Airwomen. The training typically lasts no more than six months and is intended for candidates with a Secondary School Certificate, National Diploma, NABTEB, RN/RM/NCE, or City & Guild Certificate. The BMTC is divided into two categories: Non-Tradesmen/Women and Tradesmen/Women, each with specific age and academic requirements.
Application Timeline and Eligibility
The online registration for the recruitment exercise is open from August 21, 2024, and will close on October 2, 2024. Interested applicants must meet specific criteria to be eligible for the BMTC.
- Age Requirements:
- Non-tradesmen/women: 18 to 22 years (applicants born before September 20, 2003, are ineligible).
- Tradesmen/women: 18 to 25 years (applicants born before September 20, 2000, are ineligible).
- Applicants for Chaplains Assistant, Assistant Imams, and Driver/Mechanic roles must be between 18 and 28 years old.
- Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and possess a National Identity Card (NIN) or BVN.
- Minimum height is 1.66m for males and 1.63m for females.
- Applicants must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit.
- Only single applicants are eligible.
Academic and Professional Requirements
- Non-Tradesmen/Women: Must have at least 5 credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB.
- Tradesmen/Women: Additional qualifications such as ND/NCE with at least lower credit or Trade Test certificates are required, depending on the trade.
Application Process and Important Information
The entire application process is free of charge, and applicants are advised not to make any payments at any stage of the exercise. Upon completion of the online application, candidates must print the Acknowledgment Form, Parent/Guardians Consent Form, and Local Government Area Attestation Form.
