Schools in different states and regions in Nigeria are shutting down in a bid to help prevent the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria. Yesterday I came across the news that schools in the North West and North Central zones, which comprise of most states the north have shutdown. This morning, the news online says the Lagos state government is shutting down schools starting Monday, March 23, 2020:
As part of the preventive measures against the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Lagos State Government is closing down all public and private schools from Monday, 23rd March 2020. The move becomes necessary to prevent our children and their teachers from getting more vulnerable to the pandemic. It is important for parents to ensure that their children practise ‘social distancing’ while at home, wash their hands regularly or use hand sanitizers and observe high standards of personal hygiene. Children should be encouraged to remain at home

More schools to shutdown

With this move, we should be expecting every school in the country to shutdown. Recall that five new cases of coronavirus were confirmed yesterday, four of them in Lagos state. It's obvious the government is taking preemptive measures to curtail the spread of the virus.
