What Is JAMB Cut-Off Mark? 

The JAMB cut-off mark is the minimum score that a candidate must obtain in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in order to be considered for admission into a tertiary institution in Nigeria.

In other words, it is an academic performance requirement established by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to guarantee that candidates who are admitted to tertiary institutions meet a particular standard. 

The JAMB cut-off mark plays a significant role in determining whether or not a candidate will be admitted to the institution of their choice.

Difference Between JAMB Cut-Off Mark And School Cut-Off Mark

The JAMB cut-off mark and the school cut-off mark are both important benchmarks used in the admission process into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

While the JAMB cut-off mark is set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the school cut-off mark is set by each individual institution.

The JAMB cut-off mark is the minimum score that a candidate must obtain in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be eligible to apply for admission into a tertiary institution in Nigeria.

The school cut-off mark, on the other hand, is the minimum score that a candidate must get in the UTME and/or post-UTME screening in order to be taken into consideration for admission to that institution.

The JAMB cut-off mark is a nationwide standard, but institutions may have different cut-off marks each year based on factors such as the number of applicants, available spaces, and academic performance.

Aspiring students should know both the JAMB and school cut-off marks for their desired institution to prepare adequately and meet the minimum admission requirements.
