JAMB has suspended the decision to make National Identification Number (NIN) compulsory for candidates who wish to apply for the 2020/2021 UTME exam.
Recall that not long ago, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced that 2020 JAMB candidates must obtain their NIN and that it will be required from any candidates who wish to apply for JAMB.
But the report today says that this requirement has been put on hold. However, JAMB is looking to fully introduce NIN, starting 2021 UTME registration.
Why did JAMB suspend NIN?
JAMB said that the suspension was to address the technical challenges experienced at some centres.
What are the next steps?
Candidates were urged to disregard the use of NIN for the 2020 UTME registration, but make sure they strictly comply with other procedures for the registration.
