Basic rules and regulations in Shot Put - JSS1 Physical and Health Education Lesson Note
To ensure fair play and safety, shot put events follow various rules and regulations.
1. Athletes must throw the shot put from a specific throwing circle, which is normally 135 meters in diameter.
2. The shot put must be held close to the neck and under the chin before being released.
3. Athletes shall not leave the throwing circle during the throw.
4. The shot put must land within a designated landing area for the throw to be considered valid.
5. Athletes are prohibited from using any illegal techniques or aids to improve their throw.
6. Athletes must not obstruct or interfere with other competitors during their throws.
7. Athletes must be aware of the right procedures for avoiding injuries while throwing the shot put.
8. Officials will enforce the rules and regulations and may disqualify athletes who do not follow them.
