Blessing Joseph received from service - JSS1 Christian Religious Studies Lesson Note

Potiphar, a guard of the king of Egypt bought Joseph as his slave. He liked Joseph because he was honest and hardworking. He put Joseph in charge of all he was doing. Potiphar had a wife who was a bad woman. She tempted to have sex with her. When he refused she told lies about Joseph and he was put in prison.

While in prison, Joseph interpreted two dreams by the king’s chief butler and chief baker who had being imprisoned for offending the king. Both dreams came to pass. Joseph asked the chief butler to remember him. When the chief butler got his job back, while Joseph was still in prison, the king of Egypt had two dreams and no one in Egypt was able to interpret the dreams. The chief butler told the king about Joseph. He was brought from the prison to interpret the dream. Joseph also advised the king to appoint a good man.

The king was happy to hear the meaning of his dream. The king made Joseph “the Prime Minister” he was charged with the responsibility of planting, harvesting and storing grains against a sever famine that he had predicted. The famine would last 7 years and so plenty of food had to be grown and stored. Joseph put his whole heart and strength into the work. He was with the farmers and laborers clearing the land and planting crops. When the grain was harvested, he supervised the building of barns in all cities and barns in Egypt to store grain. When the famine came, pharaoh directed all his people to Joseph for food, because he had been given the responsibility of it. Joseph who contracted the grain storm had enough for all the people because he had done his work faithfully, diligently and efficiently. His family returned to ask for his help as his dream had earlier predicted.
