Causes of family conflict - JSS2 Home economics Lesson Note

  1. Situational causes: Any situation that dissatisfies people can cause conflict. For instance in families.
  2. When parents or parent show more love or attention to a child and neglects the other.
  3. When a husband fails to give the wife money for the house-keeping.
  4. When children disobey the parents.
  5. Peer pressure 
  6. Personal differences: No two individuals are the same, not even twins. An individual difference arises from heredity and environment. Some people may be slow and quite while other could be fast, noisy, and outgoing. This different behavioral patterns can bring about conflicts in the family.
  7. Power struggle: conflicts can occur when people feel the need to be in control. Power is the ability to influence another person. Each person struggles for power and this can occur between husband and wife and also between younger and an elder brother or sister.
