Climatic Requirements - SS1 Agriculture Lesson Note
Temperature: Rubber trees thrive in tropical and subtropical climates. The ideal temperature range for rubber cultivation is between 25°C to 35°C (77°F to 95°F). Temperatures below 20°C (68°F) or above 40°C (104°F) can negatively impact latex production.
Rainfall: Rubber trees require consistent and evenly distributed rainfall throughout the year. An annual rainfall of about 2,000 to 3,000 mm (79 to 118 inches) is considered suitable. However, they can tolerate short dry periods, but extended droughts can be detrimental.
Humidity: High humidity levels, typical of tropical regions, are essential for latex production. Humidity helps maintain the health of rubber trees and promotes latex flow.
