Summary of passage

Hippos are large animals that live in Africa and are excellent swimmers despite their size. They have big mouths with long teeth used for defense and fighting. Hippos spend most of their time in the water to stay cool and protect their skin. They produce a pink fluid that acts as sunscreen and moisturizer. They are herbivores and can eat up to 80 pounds of food in one night.

Hippos are social animals that live in groups called pods and communicate through loud grunts. They are not fast runners but are excellent divers. Hippos play a vital role in the African ecosystem.
