Confederal System of Government/ meaning - SS1 Government Lesson Note

A confederal system of government is a political system where power is decentralized and dispersed among independent states or regional governments that come together to form a loose union or confederation. In this system, the central or federal government has limited authority and is subordinate to the individual member states or regional governments.

Each member state or regional government retains a high degree of sovereignty and autonomy, and decisions are made through consensus or agreement among the member states. The central government is responsible for handling only those matters that have been explicitly delegated to it by the member states, such as defense or foreign affairs.
