Consonants /d/ and /ð - SS1 English Lesson Note
Consonant/ d / is a voiced sound, it is produced with the tip of the tongue coming in contact with the alveolar ridge, thereby blocking the air flowing out from the lungs. The trapped air is suddenly released and the speech sound is produced e.g. door, good, bold, daddy.
Consonant /ð/ is produced with the tip of the tongue between the front teeth i.e. the upper front teeth and the lower front teeth as the air flowing from the lungs forces itself out. It is a voiced sound. e.g. Father, weather, they, though.
/d / ie: Den, Dare, Deep / ᵟ/ i.e then, there, they, thee
