Control Measures for Vectors - JSS3 Physical and health education Lesson Note
Water Drainage: Removing stagnant water where mosquitoes breed, such as in puddles, containers, and blocked drains, to prevent their reproduction.
Insecticides: Using chemicals to kill adult mosquitoes and other vectors, either through spraying or treating breeding sites.
Oil Spreading/Spraying: Applying oil to the surface of stagnant water to suffocate mosquito larvae, or spraying insecticides to kill adult mosquitoes.
These measures aim to break the cycle of disease transmission by targeting both the vectors and the environments in which they thrive, ultimately reducing the incidence of diseases like malaria, dengue, and Zika.
