Crude oil - JSS2 Basic science Lesson Note

Crude oil is a naturally occurring, unrefined petroleum product composed of hydrocarbon deposits found beneath the Earth's surface. It is a mixture of various organic compounds such as alkanes, cycloalkanes, and aromatic hydrocarbons.

Petrochemicals, on the other hand, are chemical compounds derived from crude oil through refining processes. These compounds are the building blocks for a wide range of products, including plastics, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, and synthetic fibers.
