Days of creation - JSS1 Christian Religious Studies Lesson Note
The Bible gives the account of the creation of the world in book of Genesis chapter 1 and 2. Before creation, there was nothing. God spoke, and the things he wanted to create appeared. There are six days of creation and each day is devoted to the creation of a particular aspect of nature.
THE FIRST DAY: GOD CREATED LIGHT. ( Genesis 1:1-5)
Before light, there was total darkness. God then said: "LET THERE BE LIGHT", and light appeared.
THE SECOND DAY: GOD CREATED THE FIRMAMENT. ( Genesis 1:6-8)
On the second day, God created the FIRMAMENT or the heavens. This the skies and clouds appeared.
THE THIRD DAY: GOD CREATED THE SEAS, LAND AND VEGETATION (Genesis 1: 9-13)
God created the seas and land in the third day. He also created the trees, grasses and other forms of vegetation.
THE FOURTH DAY: GOD CREATED THE HEAVENLY BODIES (Genesis 1: 14-19)
On the fourth day, God created the gavenly Bodies which comprises of the Sun, moon, stars, and other planets. The sun was to shine during the day and the moon by night this dividing the day and night.
THE FIFTH DAY: GOD CREATED THE SEA ANIMALS AND BIRDS. ( Genesis 1: 20-23)
God created all kinds of fishes that we can see in the sea in the fifth day. He also created all types of birds on that day.
THE SIXTH DAY: GOD CREATED THE LAND ANIMALS AND MAN (Genesis 1:24 & 2:1)
On the last day of creation, God created all the different kinds of land animals that exist on all continents. Finally, God created man In His own image and put him in charge of everything in the world.
THE SEVENTH DAY: GOD RESTED ( Genesis 2:1-3)
God rested on the seventh day and called it the Sabbath. Some churches observe their Sabbath on Saturday while others observe theirs on Sunday.
