Primary Industries:

These are also known as extractive industries.

They involve the extraction of raw materials from nature, such as agriculture, mining, fishing, and forestry.

Primary industries provide the essential raw materials for other sectors.

 

Secondary Industries:

Secondary industries are also called manufacturing industries.

They transform raw materials from primary industries into finished products, such as factories that produce cars, steel, and consumer goods.

Secondary industries add value to the raw materials.

 

Tertiary Industries:

Tertiary industries are the service sector.

They provide various services, including retail, education, healthcare, transportation, and entertainment.

Tertiary industries support and facilitate the activities of the primary and secondary sectors.

 

Quaternary Industries:

Quaternary industries are often considered a subset of the tertiary sector.

They involve knowledge-based activities like research, development, and information technology services.

These industries deal with intellectual and information-based products.
