Different Types of Repeat Patterns - JSS2 Cultural and creative art Lesson Note
All Over Repeat: In an all-over repeat pattern, the design motif repeats consistently both horizontally and vertically without any offset. It's like a grid where each tile is identical and aligned perfectly with the adjacent tiles.
Half Drop: In a half-drop repeat pattern, the motif is repeated diagonally, with every other column shifted halfway down compared to the adjacent columns. This creates a staggered effect, like bricks in a wall.
Half-Half Drop: Similar to the half-drop pattern, but here, each alternate row is also shifted halfway across, creating a more complex and irregular layout.
Mirror: In a mirror repeat pattern, the motif is reflected or flipped along one or more axes, creating symmetrical designs. It's like folding a piece of paper and seeing the design on one side mirrored onto the other.
