Drainage Basics:

Drainage refers to the system of rivers and streams that carry water and discharge it into larger bodies like oceans or seas. In Nigeria, the drainage system is vast and diverse.  

 

Niger River:

The Niger River is one of the major rivers in Nigeria.

Characteristics: It is a large, meandering river with a length of over 4,000 kilometers. It flows through several West African countries, including Nigeria.

Importance: The Niger River is crucial for transportation, irrigation, and fishing. It also sustains diverse ecosystems and wildlife.

 

Benue River:

The Benue River is another significant river in Nigeria.

Characteristics: It is a tributary of the Niger River and flows through the central part of Nigeria.

Importance: The Benue River is important for water supply, agriculture, and transportation in the regions it flows through.
