Economic Importance - JSS1 Agricultural science Lesson Note

Meat Production: Animal husbandry is a primary source of meat, providing a valuable protein source for human consumption.

Dairy Products: Livestock, especially cattle, goats, and sheep, are raised for milk production, yielding products like milk, cheese, and butter.

Leather and Wool: Animals such as cows and sheep contribute to the leather industry (from hides) and wool production, supporting various manufacturing sectors.

Work and Transport: Some animals are used as draft animals for ploughing fields and transportation, contributing to agricultural activities and rural livelihoods.

By-Products: Animal by-products, such as bones and organs, are used in the production of fertilisers, pet food, and other industrial applications.
