Effective use of poetic devices/Techniques
Adeoti uses a variety of poetic devices in "Ambush" to create a powerful and moving effect. Some of the most notable devices include:
Metaphor: Adeoti uses metaphor to compare the Nigerian government to a "giant whale" and the people to "fishers" who are being devoured by the whale. This metaphor highlights the power imbalance between the government and the people.
Imagery: Adeoti uses vivid imagery to paint a picture of the hardships that Nigerians face on a daily basis. For example, he describes the streets as being "filled with hungry faces" and the people as being "weighed down by the burden of their struggles."
Symbolism: Adeoti uses symbolism throughout the poem. For example, the "giant whale" symbolizes the Nigerian government, while the "fishers" symbolize the people. The "land" itself is also a symbol of hope and possibility, despite the fact that it is currently being ravaged by corruption and mismanagement.
