Electric Meter - JSS3 Basic science Lesson Note

An electric meter is like a fuel gauge for your home's electricity consumption. It measures how much electricity you're using, typically in kilowatt-hours (kWh). It is usually located outside your home and connected to the main electrical supply line. Electric companies use the data from these meters to bill you accurately for the electricity you've used.

Inside the meter, there's a mechanism that measures the amount of electricity passing through it. This data is then transmitted to the electric company for billing purposes. So, in simple terms, an electric meter is a device that keeps track of how much electricity you're using so you can be billed accordingly.
