Factorization of Algebraic Expressions - JSS2 Mathematics Lesson Note
Factorization is the reverse process of expansion. It involves writing an expression as a product of its factors.
Examples:
Example 1: 3𝑎+6
Find the greatest common factor (GCF):
3(𝑎+2)
Example 2:
𝑥2+7𝑥+12
Find two numbers that multiply to 12 and add to 7 (these numbers are 3 and 4):
(𝑥+3)(𝑥+4)
