Political parties play a crucial role in the democratic process by representing their members, mobilizing voters, shaping public opinion, forming and influencing government policies, and providing oversight of government activities. The functions of political parties include:

·         Representation: Political parties represent the interests of their members and constituents. They aim to advance the goals and values of their members and ensure that their voices are heard in the political process.

·         Mobilization: Political parties mobilize their members and supporters to participate in the political process. They encourage voter turnout, organize campaigns, and provide support for candidates.

·         Policy Formation: Political parties develop and promote policies and platforms that reflect their ideology and values. They engage in debates and discussions to shape public opinion and influence government policies.

·         Government Formation: Political parties seek to gain power and form governments by winning elections. They select candidates, run campaigns, and work to gain public support.

·         Oversight: Political parties provide oversight of government activities. They hold government officials accountable for their actions and ensure that policies are in line with party values and goals.
