Good conductors and insulators - JSS2 Basic science Lesson Note

An example of a good conductor of heat is metal, like copper or aluminum. Metals have free electrons that can move around and transfer heat energy quickly. On the other hand, materials like wood or plastic are poor conductors of heat, known as insulators. Insulators have tightly bound electrons, making it harder for heat to pass through them efficiently. This is why metal objects feel colder or hotter to the touch compared to wooden or plastic objects at the same temperature.
