Nouns: A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea.

Possessive Case: The possessive case is used to show ownership or possession.

How to Form the Possessive Case of Nouns According to Syllable Grammar: 

  • To form the possessive case of nouns according to syllable grammar, follow these steps:

  • Count the number of syllables in the noun.

  • If the noun has one syllable, add an apostrophe and an s ('s).

  • If the noun has two syllables and ends in a consonant, add an apostrophe and an s ('s).

  • If the noun has two syllables and ends in a vowel, add an apostrophe only (').

  • If the noun has more than two syllables, add an apostrophe and an s ('s) only if the last syllable is stressed. Otherwise, add an apostrophe only (').

  • Examples

    Here are some examples of how to form the possessive case of nouns according to syllable grammar:
