Homosexuality and Lesbianism - JSS1 Christian Religious Studies Lesson Note

A Homosexual is a man who engages in sex with another man and a Lesbian is a woman who engages in sex with another woman. In some countries, some men who are homosexuals have married one another. Some women who are also lesbians have married one another. This is an abnormality because, biologically, God created a man to have sex with a woman in marriage as husband and wife to continue with God’s creation of bringing forth a child. Therefore, it is an abomination and a sin in the sight of God for any man or woman to engage in homosexuality or lesbianism, or marry any of them when we grow up. We should report our friends and neighbours who engage in such ungodly and sinful acts to our parents, teachers and elders. There are dangers in having intimate affair with partners of the same sex, and this can lead to contracting diseases (STDs) like HIV/AIDS. The whole act is ungodly, sinful and socially and biologically dangerous. Hence it is unsafe and unwise to engage in sex of any type before marriage.

Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2013 Nigeria is a nation opposed to homosexuality and the passage of the bill received little opposition from the people. The bill voids marriage contracts between people of the same sex and persons aiding and abetting same sex marriages.
