Introduction to "The Blood of a Stranger" by Dele Charley

"The Blood of a Stranger" is a play written by Raymond Dele-Charley, a Sierra Leonean playwright and poet. It was first performed at the 1977 Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC) in Lagos, Nigeria, where it won the award for the best play. The play is set in the fictional village of Mando in Sierra Leone during the colonial era. It tells the story of the villagers' encounter with a white man who arrives in their village claiming to be a doctor.
